The 21st Century Trust was started to expand The Tennessean’s role in promoting and facilitating philanthropy throughout Middle Tennessee. The Trust has focused on charitable programs that meet immediate needs of local citizens, particularly children. The effort has included not only raising funds, but also leveraging The Tennessean’s wide reach to cover community needs, the organizations that help meet them, and to encourage further participation by others. The Tennessean chose to create the 21st Century Trust within The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee since it is uniquely positioned to help the Fund identify and meet needs in the Nashville area.
