Project Vision

Project ForeSight Fund is dedicated to commemorating and celebrating the historical and cultural significance of Fort Negley in Nashville, TN, by creating a large mural on a 2,140-foot wall at the base of St. Cloud Hill. Fort Negley, constructed by impressed, enslaved Black laborers and free men during the Civil War in 1862, is not only a site of historical importance but also a symbol of the resilience and contribution of formerly enslaved laborers to American infrastructure.

By supporting Project ForeSight Fund, donors contribute to a project that engages in preserving the history of Fort Negley and ensures community access. This approach includes comprehensive research, focus groups, workshops, and innovative storytelling methods, such as visual and transmedia narratives, as well as youth engagement. The mural will serve as a focal point for discussions among scholars, historians, architects, community members, and stewards of Tennessee’s history, fostering an ongoing dialogue about our shared past and future.

Project ForeSight Fund aims to celebrate the history of Black empowerment and resilience, providing a platform for community members to connect with, empathize, and be inspired by these powerful stories of resilience and reconciliation. Contributions to the Project ForeSight Fund enable the team to build not just a mural but a pathway for celebrating history and empowering future generations through engagement, education, and storytelling.
