Best-selling author Glennon Doyle Melton proved to be an entertaining keynote speaker at the 19th annual Power of the Purse Luncheon and auction April 12 at the Music City Center to benefit The Women’s Fund of The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. Melton, creator and president of the nonprofit Together Rising and author of the memoirs “Carry On,” “Warrior” and “Love Warrior,” thoroughly engaged the audience in her 20-minute onstage conversation with philanthropist and former broadcast journalist Ruth Ann Harnisch, a longtime supporter of The Women’s Fund. At one point Melton professed her unabashed fandom for singing star Martina McBride, the event’s honorary chair, who was seated at the front table.
